The MAD Academy Newsletter – Winter 2006

What's new for next term?

As always we have lots of exciting new elements for the spring term! For the babies we will be discovering and enjoying textures. The sense of touch is one of the most important and stimulating for children at this age and we will be letting them explore and feel a whole range of objects designed to help them begin to understand the world around them. Our walkers to 2 will be captivated by our transport section. Designed to promote their burgeoning vocabulary we will be singing a fun and funky MAD song all about methods of transport, so ‘All Aboard!!!’ for some MAD antics! Finally our 2 to 4 years olds will be creeping up and surprising Ralph with a great counting game guaranteed to make the children giggle!

Don’t forget to book up your place for the MAD Academy spring term with your class leader right away. Places are limited and going fast!!!! To contact your nearest class leader, click here>>>

Keeping the Beat!

Another new element you will be seeing in your classes soon will be the new improved rhythm section! MAD Academy is committed to helping children develop their ‘beat competency’ because we know that being able to spot and keep a beat is really important. Did you know, for example, that moving to a steady rhythm is necessary for walking, running, drawing and even cutting with scissors? It also really helps when children learn to read and write. Even more incredible, research has shown that children who are able to beat a steady rhythm actually do better at school in all their subjects than those who have poor ‘beat competency’. Powerful stuff! So in your MAD classes you will soon be playing many more great games in the rhythm section designed to excite your children and help them develop their potential all at the same time! Party Party Party!!!

We asked you to party, party, party and you did! We were really glad everyone enjoyed Ralph’s Christmas party last term! Ralph certainly had a fantastic time. In fact, he loved celebrating with you all so much that he is inviting everyone to come to his Birthday party in March! But he wont say how old he is going to be!!!! More details to come later!

Competition Time!

Well done to everyone who took part in the Christmas colouring competition. We had 83 fantastic entries, and Ralph thought they were the loveliest Christmas trees he’d seen! Congratulations to our winners Fern Henderson (aged 19 months), Zoe Roberts (aged 2 ½ ) and Phoebe Ibison (aged 2) whose entries were stunning. All three winners will receive some fantastic musical instruments to recreate the MAD magic at home, as well as having their fabulous pictures featured in our on-line gallery. The 7 runners up will also have their work displayed on our website. To view your wonderful pictures, including the winning three, visit our gallery from Jan 1st 2007 by clicking here>>> Watch out for our Spring competition, to be launched later in the term!
